I've seen many previews as I check out one of my favorite networks...The Discovery Channel....for The Colony. Also referred to as The Colony Experiment...takes reality television to a new level. As anyone checked this out? I'm currently loading them up to my DVR to catch up...

Raging Bull
Happy Birthday Robert DiNero!
Arguably Raging Bull is the ultimate classic of his lovely collection of movies. It is definetly one of the best, but that man has plenty of options to chose from. Taxi Driver, Heat, Meet The Parents, Analzye This, Casino, Ronin, and we can't forget Rocky n Bulwinkle! Oh, maybe we should....haha...

Push
I should have known better. I said when I saw the trailers that this was not going to be a good movie...it was going to be over the top, bad plot, worst acting, just didn't look good. Well....it wasn't....
Slow developing story, unsure on who really are the bad guys, nice effects, sloppy plot, ultimately, a big disappointment.

Best of Will Ferrell

In honor of Alex Trebek's birthday tomorrow, I choose to spotlight one the greatest running sketches of all time...Celebrity Jeopardy. There are so many great battles between Trebek and Sean Connery...there are even t-shirts made with the custom sayings...

The Hours
In honor of Nicole Kidman's 42nd birthday, EW choose to spotlight the movie that brought her the little golden statue known as Oscar. I have not seen this movie, so I won't do you the dis-service of a tweetdvd review. Check out EW's great job of reviewing this movie they gave an A.

The Haunting in Connecticut
Another "based on a true" story thriller....does anyone really believe this anymore? They are usually so loosely based on random events that one has to look at it with a bit of suspicion. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a big fan of these types of movies...I look the other way when scary things happen...but my girlfriend likes them, so I fight through them....
Tomatometer Score - 18%
Based on true events, uh huh, standard thrills, a few gory scare moments, in the end, nothing too impressive...

Knowing
I was moderatly excited about this movie. I had seen that it did not get good reviews...but for some reason I'm a sucker for these types of movies. End of the world...science...faith...balance of the two type movies....Egh....don't think this one pulled it off. Should have known coming from the director of Dark City.
Surprising thriller/spooky start, odd background music, overacting, good special effects/at times, random twist that you see coming, not so hot

Teaching a new dog an old trick
Well this weekend was a lot of fun, as the 4th usually is. We went down to a friends house for some games, some fireworks, and some swimming. Ryann had taken Wrigley into the lake at Potato Creek and Wrigley wasn't a fan at first, but he eventually warmed up to it. He now jumps into the tub whenever he gets the chance and looks at us to put some water in it.

So one would think that getting Wrigley to swim in my friends pool would be easy. Egh....not so much. Lots of grabbing and scratching later, he finally warmed up to the idea...which was very cute to finally see, but it came at a small price...

Doubt
Ryann and I watched Doubt last night...which I think inadvertly lead to a weird dream where Ryann was a professor who was cheating on me...odd...anyway...
Strong cast performances, obviously...no background music...surprising turn halfway through...solid, but not fantastic...a good flick though

Jeff Goldblum...Dead?
Twitter had been in a fury over the apparent death of Jeff Goldblum last week...tragically falling from a cliff while filming a new movie....however...there was one person who still had hope he was alive...Jeff Goldblum...
He tries to plead his case to Stephen Colbert...but he's not buying it.

50 Movies for 50 States
Rotten Tomatoes has done a great job of picking a notable flick from each state. Not to surprising what one was from Indiana...one of my favorite movies of all time...trailer below....not going to lie...I get a little teary eyed everytime I watch this movie...which has been a lot. This and Rudy always seem to get me.
Little Orik
Blockbuster's Weird Wednesday is Little Orik...and its definitely weird....
Normally I do a brief description...Blockbuster did a great job though...so I'll give credit where credit is due...
Ravenous tree babies? Child abuse? Czechoslovakia? Murder? It must be Weird Wednesday...
Who greenlights these movies...read the recap...
Acclaimed animator Jan Svankmajer combines cartoon and live-action imagery to bring to life a bizarre story based on an old Czech folk tale. Karel (Jan Hartl) and Bozena (Veronika Zilkova) are a married couple who desperately want a child, but have been unable to conceive; Alzbetka (Kristina Adamcova), an only child who lives next door, has long wanted a friend to play with and feels for the couple's sad dilemma. One day, Karel is digging up an old tree stump when it occurs to him that the roots look a bit like a baby; Karel brings the stump home and carves it into the image of a child, and Bozena expresses so much love for the wooden infant that it comes to life. Karel and Bozena name their new child Otik, but their joy is short-lived when they discover the infant has a bottomless appetite -- so much so that Otik begins eating stray animals and even people in an effort to satisfy its hunger. Karel and Bozena hide Otik in their basement to keep it from harming others, but Alzbetka feels sorry for the strange child and begins bringing Otik scraps of food. It soon becomes obvious that this isn't enough to keep Otik satisfied, so Alzbetka starts luring people from the neighborhood into the basement -- letting Otik do the rest.

Major Payne
Major Payne is Family Video's Steal of the Day....$4.99
From FV....Damon Wayans plays a near-maniacal Army Major assigned to whip a detail of dysfunctional children into shape to win a war games competition.
Wayans used to be funny, extremely over the top, odd voice, some nice gags, probably watch now and realize not as funny as you remember, egh

Who is Wrigley?

Wrigley is my girlfriend and I's 6 month old golden doodle. He is a very happy boy and currenly weighs in at 45lbs. Ryann is hoping he gets bigger, I'm pretty content. He LOVES the water, as we call him our fishdog. His pictures, quite frankly, are much cuter than mine, so you will probably see him pop up on this blog quite frequently. I have a huge passion for movies, so this will hopefully connect me with others that share my passion and we can all have fun with this. You can follow this blog on twitter as well....www.twitter.com/tweetdvd. This will let you know when there are new updates and in general what I'm observing. Well..the White Sox game is about to start...so off I go.
Yes, I'm a White Sox fan with a dog named Wrigley. Ryann, my gf, is a HUGE Cubs fan....and Wrigley sounds better than Celly....so...Wrigley it is. Can't win all the battles...so I let this one go. :)

He's Just Not That Into You
Large cast, romcom, lots of personal drama, a bit too clever, some laughs, nothing great, but an enjoyable date movie.
What we are all about...
Well…what is Wrigley’s review all about…..that’s a good question. What I hope and plan to do with this blog is to offer reviews of dvd’s. In this tough economy we don’t have to stop watching the movies we love, we just have to use different methods. With big screen tvs and surround sound speakers, we can bring the movies home with us. So what is the catch…what makes this blog different? I will give reviews in 140 characters or less! Sound familiar….yep…a movie review in a tweet format…hence the name tweetdvd….So….lets get started….
